STATISTICS QUOTED FROM 'HUMOUR, SERIOUSLY' BY AAKER & BAGDONAS

What your team will learn

Practical skills with lasting impact

Levity is not about learning to be funny.
It is about learning to be more playful, make work lighter and ideas stick.
Your people will leave with practical skills they can use the very next day.

Levity over hilarity

Master the art of appropriate lightness that wins trust and lifts the room.

Creative sparks

Steal a few tricks from stand-ups to spark fresher, braver ideas.

Build fast rapport

Establish better first impressions so colleagues and clients lean in, not check out.

Resilience via lightness

Flip setbacks on their head and help your team bounce back smiling.

Cultural glue

Create playful little rituals that make your team tighter, sharper and happier.

Everyday levity

Turn dull updates, emails and small talk into moments people actually enjoy.

Pick and Mix
Your Training, Your Choices

No two teams are the same. That is why all The Levity Works lessons are custom-curated.
Some topics can be covered in a quick burst. Others deserve a deep dive.
You pick the mix, and we will build the session(s) around your people.
Naturally, on a Discovery call you are welcome to share the issues you want to address, and Alfie can give you expert suggestions.

Preparing to be Spontaneous

The secret to seeming quick-witted is being ready. Simple stand-up techniques shows you how.

Storytelling with Impact

Personal or company stories told well can answer common questions, build trust and carry extra meaning. Add levity and the story becomes unforgettable.

Everyday
Levity

Understand how to spot the moments where a touch of humour makes work lighter, from meetings to emails to auto-replies.

Finding Ideas that Connect

Borrow from comedians. Find premises,
spot new angles,
and see opportunities others miss.

Bad Idea Brainstorm

Borrowed from improv, this game turns the pressure down and the creativity up. By deliberately chasing “bad” ideas, teams open the door to unexpected, innovative ones. Laughing all the way.

Confidence Boosting

Simple techniques, insights, to manage nerves and step up with added presence.

Resilience Through Humour

Reframe challenges with a fresh playfulness. Teams that laugh together in good times handle the tough ones better.

Powerful Editing

Cut clutter, sharpen focus, and make every line land harder.
The right word makes people smile. The wrong one loses the room.

Status and Persona

Savvy awareness of status and persona can be most impactful in social situations, and a major bonus for captivating creative output.

Using
Evocative Imagery

Get a handle on how to paint vivid pictures that stick in people’s minds, and know when to twist them for comic effect.

Solid Steps of Introduction

You're going to introduce yourself, show more of yourself.
Seize on a stand-up strategy to reveal 'you' in the way that 'you' prefer.

Comedy
Elementals

Learn about comedy techniques including the rule of three, wrong focus, misdirection, homonyms, tags and call backs to open up fresher, funnier thinking.

Why Work with Alfie Noakes?

Alfie Noakes has been a national BBC journalist, a TV producer and a broadcast documentary director. Each role relied on the same skill: taking complex ideas and shaping them into stories that captivate. It is presentation, it is storytelling, and humour has always been part of the mix.

Then came comedy. Alfie has produced more than 1,500 live shows, staged over 10,000 comedians, produced over 100 live workshops and personally MCed more than 1,000 nights. He has written two books on comedy, created three online comedy courses, and seen (and experienced) every stage triumph and disaster you can imagine.

The overlap is clear. Journalism taught him clarity. TV taught him format and flow. Comedy taught him how to win attention and keep it. Together, it is a rare mix that makes Alfie a fun and effective guide for any team that wants to boost morale, sharpen creativity and make their work stick.

And for the record: Alfie has directed TV shows on three continents, is loved by Jack Black, and been hated on by Richard Gere. Twice. Angelina Jolie kissed him, without asking.

Alfie also introduced Jackie Chan to the Shaolin Monks, which led to one of Alfie's greatest insights in life, if you find the opportunity to delight a Shaolin Monk, do it!

Let’s be honest, these make for a few better stories than most trainers can tell.

With Alfie, your people will not just learn about levity. They will experience it.
What clients say

Laughter isn't the best medicine, that's probably antibiotics, but it truly is a tonic.

— Naomi Bagdonas,
Co-Author, 'Humor, Seriously' (sic)
"Being a leader means handling stress... better if you can do it with a sense of humour."

Frequently Asked Questions

How much will this cost?

To be honest and clear, it simply varies depending on a range of elements. Once more information has been shared in a Discovery call, Alfie will work up the training contents outline, and breakdown the costs. Then send it on to you for clarity and transparency. Rest assured, the pricing is reasonable, the training effective. And fun.

How many delegates are there on a workshop?

There is a degree of flexibility. Naturally, the fewer the delegates, the more time for personalised attention and even deeper dives on certain elements. However, optimum is 8 - 10 people.

Is this delivered face-to-face, or online?

Did I mention flexibility? However, while 1:1 coaching works very well online, there is nothing to replace the energy and group experience of in the room, real life, group workshops. A discovery call can address all elements and any practical needs.

Where will Alfie travel? Can you provide a venue?

Typically, most of the work that Alfie does is within the M25. Or overseas. However, all travel is an open possibility and there are several precedents for Alfie travelling further afield. So, all options are on the table.

Certainly we can provide a venue for Laugh & Learn Away Days. Our standard option is the room in which Alfie ran hundreds of live comedy shows, the spacious, basement bar of a trendy venue in Dalston, East London. It comes with a private bar, stage, PA and utter privacy.

Arrangements can be made for settings selected based on your personal preference. Your wishes can be discussed on the discovery call, ranging from area, size and 'feel' of the venue that you prefer.

To be absolutely clear our first option in Dalston is colourful, shabby chic and very informal

IAQs - Infrequently Asked Questions

Do fish get thirsty?

Saltwater fish do drink a lot of water, yet their sense of thirstiness remains unknown. Whereas, Freshwater fish absorb water through osmosis so they really don't get thirsty. Try and keep in mind that Rainbow Trout have a troubling history with Jagerbombs, they can get lairy and aggressive... if possible, try and keep them on pints only. Good luck!

If I stand still for long enough, will birds nest in me?

So long as you stand utterly still, yes. There are variables based on where you are standing still. Being near to a busy road as opposed to on the edge of a forest would, presumably, slow the mission down. In broad strokes, estimates suggest the process would start unfurling after about four weeks. Good luck!

Can I marry someone for their Tesco Clubcard points?

Yes. Though it's not broadly considered the prime reason for entering a life-long relationship. Naturally, divorce remains an option. If Clubcard points turn out to not be your thing, perhaps consider Nectar next time? Good luck!
