What it is
The day will open with a fun lecture on aspects of comedy writing, performance and insights from a working professional on how the scene and industry works.

Then, each student will "get up" and perform a 2 - 3 minute set and receive instant feedback from Scott. There will be tips on how to improve delivery, set structure, "punch up" existing material and comments as to why some material might best be dropped with advice on how to find replacement premises and jokes.

The audience, made up of students, will then offer their comments. Students will learn from one the strengths and weaknesses in one another's sets. There are a lot of laughs throughout the day.

This workshop will not only save new acts from making rookie errors and traversing dead end material during their own incubation; it’s also a fantastic way to get to know other faces on the comedy scene.

A massive challenge in stand up performance is making the comedian’s act accessible to a room full of strangers, and with this direct, pertinent approach from one of the longest lasting comedy acts in the UK, such a barrier can be expediently overcome.
Who leads it
Scott is a featured actor in film and television, he’s appeared in Mrs. Doubtfire, Star Wars Phantom Menace and on every panel show off the scenic route. This San Franciscan is one of nature’s great raconteurs. Challenging, sometimes outrageous, but intimate too and most happily inspired by the creative process.
What people say
Kirsty - A really great afternoon... so well organised... Scott’s advice was fantastic super helpful as too was Alfie’s..so very worth doing.. thank you.

Babetta - Loved this workshop. Got so much good advice from Scott and Alfie--and it's from people who know what they are talking about. It really gave me direction and made me see my set in a different way. I also learnt a lot listening to the feedback other people were given about their sets. The Q&A at the end with Scott was fab too--when do you get to pick the brilliant mind of an actual comedian?

Michael - This workshop was brilliant! Scott and Alfie were really insightful and help to cut the guff in your act and advice to streamline your jokes. Receiving criticism of your act can be tough to swallow but if you are serious about where you are going, get on the next one of these.

Seam - Really enjoyed the class learned so much I wish I could do it again.
