What it is
If you are a stand-up comedian, or any kind of public speaker, who wishes to enthrall and delight your audience, this workshop is for you.

Many acts describe themselves as having a storytelling style. Funny stories are more popular than ever. They feature in comedy performances from 5 min sets to hour-long shows. They are everywhere--from business presentations to best mens' speeches. There is a good reason for this--audiences love funny stories.

The aim of this workshop is to prepare you to take events that have happened--or possibly those that have not--and make them funny to the audience in front of you. By the time you leave, your head will be spilling over with ideas for attention-grabbing tales, peppered--or even drenched--with funny twists and turns.

You will learn:

- How you can develop a funny story from an initial idea to a finished bit.
- The techniques used to generate ideas for stories.
- How to develop and edit your story.
- What makes a story work for you and your on stage persona.
- How to deal with various disruptions that happen when performing long form stories in different types of rooms.
- How, actually, a heckle or disruption can really add to you story.

Who leads it
Matt has performed in over 30 countries, received an award nomination for a solo show in Australia, performed 5 solo shows in Edinburgh and has received many 4 and 5 stars reviews (for narrative solo shows).

He has also received a few bad reviews over the years too, which makes him even more qualified to present a workshop of this nature.

Matt works for most UK comedy promoters and has a reputation as being an interactive, hilarious, joke-based storyteller.
What people say
Ricky P - Excellent workshop - Matt's personable approach, expertise and ability to coach the participants in the art of crafting and performing comedy storytelling was clear to see. How to adapt or develop material for laughs was covered, tricks of the trade were revealed, onstage personas discussed and nothing was too much trouble for Matt who managed the day with aplomb! Highly recommended for anyone, regardless of experience or aspirations.

Johnny M - Was a day well spent in the company of the excellent Matt Price. He was generous in sharing his comedic experience and concise and encouraging in his invaluable feedback. He passed on his knowledge regards methods of creating stories and techniques to employ when performing them. Left my head bursting with possibilities. Also it was all really enjoyable too! Highly recommended!

Janet B - As with all the best teachers, Matt was extremely encouraging to every single person and very generous with his energy and time. He's very eloquent too, with the ability to introduce an idea and expand on it in a clear, cogent and often hilarious way with hardly a pause for breath. He's been a comedian for quite some years and gave fascinating glimpses into his past and the way comedy has changed. Obviously very kind too, empathising with all the difficulties we might have experienced, or be experiencing right there on the day. I really enjoyed the course.

Chris C - Matt was an excellent teacher and demonstrated exactly how to hold the attention of a room. He imparted wisdom which would have taken ages to realise otherwise. He made sure each individual had something to take away from the class, that required thought and work. Having a professional perspective on persona and material was invaluable.

Sam M - This was excellent. Matt Price gave us the advise and tools to help build story-telling into our comedy set. Also helped adapt it to our own styles (character, observational and alternative comedians all present) been a huge help and really well run.
